Abstract:
This investigation was carried out during 1998-2004 at the Faculty of Agriculture, KSU in K.Maras.
The walnut orchard was established at the Research and Adaptation Center of Nuts (SEKAMER). In the experiments 19 local and 8 foreign walnut cvs were used.
The local cvs were selected ones from different part of Turkey.
All the experimental cvs were grown under the same ecological conditions and the dates of their leafing, opening of male and female flowers, fruit sets, harvest were determined.
The earlier leafing were observed in Serr and Sebin where as the latest leafing occurred in Franguette.
First male flowers opened first in Sebin and Yalova-4. In Bilecik and Kr-2 the female flowers were become receptive earlier than the other cvs.
Maras-18 and Pedro appeared to be homogamous cvs.
The lightest and heaviest nuts were obtained from Back (10.56 g) and Kaplan-86 (22.07 g), respectively.
During these five years, one of the locally selected cv, Maras-18, seemed to be the best adapted cv to K.Maras ecological conditions from the view point of shelling percentage and kernel weight.
