Abstract:
Sharka disease induces a serious concern for the growers in most of the Prunus areas.
The symptomatology on plum, peach and apricot cultivars is now well stated and the detection tests have been optimized.
However a new symptom has been observed after artificial inoculation with PPV-D strain in the leaves of the infected apricot cultivar ‘Manicot’ A1236. It is characterized by Leaf necrosis in association with conventional symptoms.
The analysis of segregant progenies (selfing of ‘Manicot’, selfing of ‘Colomer’, controlled cross ‘Colomer’ × ‘Manicot’) inoculated with a PPV-D strain in insect-proof green-house demonstrated that the necrosis symptom character is inherited on a monogenic dominant manner.
It is heterozygous in ‘Manicot’ A1236 cultivar.
