Abstract:
The Dipartimento di Coltivazione e Difesa delle Specie Legnose of Pisa University has for over 20 years carried out an apricot breeding program funded by the Ministry for Agricultural and Forestry Policies with the aims of improving fruit quality, extending the ripening period, obtaining late flowering, or at least, spring frost resistant cultivars, greater resistance to parasites such as Monilinia laxa and fructigena, Bacteriosis (pseudomas sp.), Sharka.
The work carried out in the past few years has led to the identification of 7 interesting selections whose characteristics suggest they could be proposed as new cultivars.
