Abstract:
‘Aidemirska’ rootstock (P. cerasifera) is a seedling of a myrobolan forms.
Its investigation started in 1970 when in the course of a plant resource study a great amount of myrobolan varieties were selected.
It was tested in a nursery together with 20 other rootstocks as well as in several rootstock trials in a plantation.
The stones of ‘Aidemirska’ rootstock are good for sowing directly in a nursery and the seedlings are ready for grafting by the end of July.
Autumn sowing of preliminary stratified seeds guarantees 90-95% of seed germination.
The rootstock material is uniformous especially with respect to stem thickness at the graft union.
The percentage of buds to be grafted is high, ranging from 84% to 100%. Due to its smooth, straight and vigorous stem, with few suckers, ‘Aidemirska’ rootstock is suitable for high grafting.
It has good compatibility with apricot cultivars and induces high productivity.
