Abstract:
The problem of the apricot rootstocks has been investigated since 1956 in Apricot research station, Silistra.
A number of the variations and cultivars from the species A. vulgaris, P. domestica, P. cerasifera and R. vulgaris have been selected and studied in a nursery and orchard.
The seed wild plum rootstocks ‘Jeanka 4’ and ‘Aidemirska’ have been selected.
They gave vigorous and homogenous seedlings in the production of planting material and are also good for sowing directly in a nursery.
In a plantation the rootstock ‘Aidemirska’ induces less vigorous growth in the apricot cultivars in comparison with ‘Jeanka 4’. The clonal rootstocks ‘GF 31-6’ and ‘Myrobolan blanc’ have been investigated.
Their distribution is not to be recommended because they induce high vigor in the grafted cultivars, and they are difficult to propagate.
The plum seed rootstock ‘Greengage CD 4’ has been selected in the station.
We have studied the plum clone rootstocks : ‘Mariana GF 8/1’, ‘Damas GF-1869’, ‘GF 43’, 'St.
Julien A’, etc.
Selected are the rootstocks ‘Zarzala- K 1’, ‘Frue hungarian gelbe’, ‘Radinski’ and ‘№ 3957’.
