Abstract:
The pioneering work of establishing apricot culture in Moscow region has been carried out for over 40 years.
Our present cultural apricot population is the result of several successive multiplications at the Main Botanical Garden and in some other places of Moscow region.
Usual flowering time is end of April – first 10 days of May.
Fruit ripening: end of July – August; leaf-fall about mid-October.
Moscow apricot fruits have an average weight of 15-20 g, a high production, a pretty attractive appearance and an excellent suitability for jam and conservation.
Fruit flesh is well separated from the stone; the latter is usually with bitter kernel.
In recent years several cultivars have been selected: 'Alyosha', 'Lel', 'Zeus', 'Iceberg', etc… Our apricot trees intended for amateur gardens in province of Moscow.
