Abstract:
This paper analyses the factors that most influenced consumers’ decision to purchase pesticide safe vegetables in Thailand using logistic regression.
The data was collected by personal interviews of 1,320 respondents in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Khon Kaen.
The results show that the most important influencing factors are income, awareness of pesticide residue’s adverse health impact, vegetarian diet, education and age.
Due to the time constraint of cooking, people in urban areas who eat out more than two meals a day have no interest in purchasing pesticide safe vegetables.
The findings from this study increase our understanding of consumer behaviour in purchasing pesticide safe vegetables that can be used to further improve the supply of pesticide safe vegetables.
