Abstract:
Twenty potato cultivars were studied for tuber yield, specific gravity, starch percent, dry matter percent, reducing sugars content, oil absorbtion and flesh color.
Results showed that Kuras, Picasso, Moren, Aozonia, Aziza, Elles and Eba had the highest yield.
Agria, Aula, Herta, Aziza and Sante had the highest specific gravity and dry matter percent, but had low reducing sugars.
Picasso, Romano, Aozonia, Cosima, Draga and Ilona had low dry matter percent.
Kuras and Elles had high starch percent.
Tuber yield was significantly and positively correlated with dry matter percent and specific gravity, but no significant correlation could be found with starch percent.
Picasso, Romano, Aozonia, Cosima, Draga and Ilona were selected for the fresh market.
Agria, Aula, Herta, Aziza and Sante were selected for chips, granules and French fries.
Kuras and Elles were suitable for the starch industry.
