Abstract:
Seventeen varieties of strawberry were evaluated against root rot and blight under natural epiphytotic conditions at Regional Horticultural Research Station, Bajaura at an altitude of 1090 m a.m.s.l.
Varieties Dana and Etna have shown some field resistance to the disease.
The disease incidence on commercially popular varieties Chandler and Tioga was 7.17 and 13.58% respectively.
In the control studies, fungicides and the biocontrol agent were tested alone and in combinations of different concentrations for two consecutive years.
Data varied from 56.47% disease control by Bavistin (0.2%) when applied alone to 82.58% disease control by the combi-treatment of Thiram and Trichoderma viridae talc formulation (0.4 +0.5%). Trichoderma individually (1.0%) gave 72.9% disease control where as Thiram (0.4%) controlled the disease to an extent of 67.25%.
