Abstract:
The planting density of plum cv.
Satluj Purple grafted on Kabul Green Gage had a significant effect on fruit yield and increase in yield was directly correlated with increase in planting density on per hectare basis.
The maximum nitrogen content (2.74 per cent) was present in closely spaced trees.
However, phosphorus and potassium content in leaves did not differ significantly in different spacings.
The root biomass (0-90 cm depth) at a distance of 30 cm from tree trunk was maximum at closest spacing i.e. 3 x 1.5 m and was minimum at the spacing of 6 x 3 m.
However, the root distribution at a distance of 90 cm from tree trunk was maximum in widest spacings, while in closer spacings the roots tended to grew more vertically.
