ISHS Acta Horticulturae 696: VII International Symposium on Temperate Zone Fruits in the Tropics and Subtropics - Part Two

CORRELATION STUDIES ON N AND GA3 WITH VEGETATIVE GROWTH, FLOWERING, FRUITING AND LEAF NUTRIENT STATUS IN LOW CHILL PLUM (PRUNUS SALICINA LINDL.) CV. TITRON

Abstract:
Lack of chilling may however, be responsible for off-season flowering and fruiting (if any) in plum cv. Titron, resulting in scanty flowering and fruiting in main-season. In the present study application of GA3 and different doses of nitrogen and their combinations were tested. Four hundred g N along with 100 mgl-1 GA3 per tree applied in autumn was found to be most effective in controlling off-season flowering. Significant and negative correlation was found in off-season flowering with flowering intensity in main season, flower emergence, leaf emergence, per cent fruit set, fruit yield, nitrogen and magnesium content in leaves but significantly and positively correlated with leaf drop, phosphorus and boron content in leaves.
