Authors:   D. Gangwar, R.L. Arora, G.S. Gaur
Keywords:   peach, plum, rootstock, genotypes, growth parameters
Abstract:
Keeping in view the importance of rootstock in improving the growth of peaches, a study was carried out at Horticulture Research Centre, Pantnagar during 1999-2000. Nine rootstocks viz. Kala Amritsari, Titron, Suraj Bhan, Jardalu, Calcuttia, Laddakh, Alucha Black, Alfa and Kabul Greengage were used as rootstock for two peach scion cultivars i.e. Flordasun and Saharanpur Prabhat. Out of 18 stionic combinations, Flordasun on Kala Amritsari plum rootstock gave maximum success (88.33%). Vegetative characters viz. plant height (36.20cm), total number of leaves (11.6), stem girth (1.87 cm.), leaf area (16.57 cm2) and number of stomata (18.36) per unit leaf area were highest in the Flordasun/Kala Amritsari stionic combination.
