ISHS Acta Horticulturae 69: II International Symposium on Pear Growing

THE EFFECT OF VARIETY ON THE CATION BALANCE IN THE LEAVES OF PEAR TREES

Authors:   I. Miljkovic, V. Ivekovic
Abstract:
In the semi-arid region of Croatia in the nursery, two experimental orchards and one productive orchard the cation balance in the leaves of different pear varieties was carried out. On the basis of these investigations a significant difference in the cation balance among certain varieties is found. For the Passe crassane variety a significant difference in the cation balance in the leaves under the rootstock influence (seedling and quince) is shown. The cation balance depends on the soil properties. In the case of soil reaction among pH 7.2 – 8.0 there is a correlation / r = - 0.940++ / between soil reaction and cation balance in leaves of pear trees.
