Abstract:
From 1968 to 1975 the following treatments of Cycocel on Comice were carried out: A) 10000 ppm 60 days after bloom; B) 10000 ppm 60 and 90 days after bloom; C) control.
The treatments were applied, in two different trials on three and five year old trees.
Two more trials were carried out from 1970 to 1975; the treatments were the same as before but applied on: A) top one third of tree; B) entire tree; C) control.
Cycocel remarkably reduced the vegetative growth and therefore, in the case of young trees, the overall dimensions of the trees.
Cycocel did not appear to influence the amount of blossom directly but it notably improved yield efficiency.
The application of Cycocel to the top part of the tree allowed almost regular growth of the shoots in the lower part of the tree.
