PROPAGATION, PECULIARITIES OF SEED GERMINATION AND PRODUCTIVITY OF WILD EDIBLE ONIONS IN WEST SIBERIA

Author:   V.A. Cheryomushkina
Keywords:   Allium L., sexual propagation, vegetative reproduction
Abstract:
Peculiarities of propagation, seed germination and productivity in growing in Central Siberian Botanical Garden (Novosibirsk) have been studied in 3 species: A. senescens L., A. glaucum Schrader and A. ramosum L. It has been established that onions are easily propagated by both seeds and bulb. Germinating ability is high and does not depend on the origin of introduced species. Rather high interpopulation variation of the biological productivity has been determined in A. senescens and A. ramosum. The most productive populations of the three onion species have been identified.
