ISHS Acta Horticulturae 681: IV International Congress on Artichoke

NEW OUTBREAKS OF TOMATO SPOTTED WILT TOSPOVIRUS (TSWV) INFECTIONS ON GLOBE ARTICHOKE IN BASILICATA AND APULIA

Authors:   I. Camele, G.L. Rana
Keywords:   globe artichoke, TSWV, virus infection, southern Italy
Abstract:
New findings of TSWV infections are reported on some hybrids and a cultivar of globe artichoke in Basilicata and Apulia (southern Italy). In some instances, the virus infected hybrid artichoke plants alone whereas, in the remaining cases it was accompanied by artichoke latent Potyvirus (ArLV). In pathogenicity tests, TSWV infected artichoke seedlings of the Nunhems hybrids 6372, 6374 and 6370 causing general stunting, chlorosis and reduction of leaf blade surface.
