Abstract:
Ten hybrid cultivars propagated by seed were transplanted in field during July; GA3 at 5 ppm was applied three times to the foliage, starting 60 days after planting.
The harvests were made in March-April.
Secondary buds with an average weight of 120 g were analysed.
On the edible part of the buds, the content of chlorogenic acid, dicaffeoylquinic acids, apigenin-7-glucoside, glucose, fructose, sucrose and inulin were determined.
Chlorogenic acid content ranged from about 200 to 500 mg 100g-1 f. w., while dicaffeoylquinic acids from 300 to 600 mg 100g-1 f. w.
The apigenin-7-glucoside average content was about 15 mg 100g-1 f. w.
The sugar content was found to range from 360 to 830 mg 100g-1 f. w. (glucose), from 20 to 70 mg 100g-1 f. w. (fructose) and from 270 to 750 mg 100g-1 f. w. (sucrose). The inulin content was found to range from 800 to 4400 mg 100g-1 f.w.
