| Abstract:
The origin, domestication and early cultivation of artichoke and cardoon is obscure. Although artichoke and cardoon had been cultivated for almost a millennium many types had almost disappeared but are now resurfacing. In this paper we compare historical and linguistic evidence, concerning artichoke and cardoon with cladistic analysis and isozyme investigations. | |
