RELATIVE EFFICIENCY OF FLUORESCENT AND INCANDESCENT LAMPS IN INHIBITING FLOWER INDUCTION IN CHRYSANTHEMUM MORIFOLIUM "ALBATROSS"

Authors:   E. Accati-Garibaldi, A.M. Kofranek, R.M. Sachs
Abstract:
Cool white fluorescent lamps were more efficient than incandescent lamps for preventing flower initiation in chrysanthemums 'Albatross'. Pink fluorescent was equal to but Gro-LuxR was considerably less efficient than cool white. Capital outlay, including costs for installation of lamps, must be considered in selecting the most economical light source for preventing flower initiation. However, considering fluorescent sources alone, cool white is clearly the most economical and efficient lamp available.
