Abstract:
Dicentra spectabilis flowered in continuous light when developed as rooted cuttings from stock plants with flowering potential.
If the plants were placed in short photoperiods, the stems senesced and these plants could not be made to flower without cold storage of the crowns.
After crown cold storage, the plants flowered in short photoperiods.
Gibberellin A3 did not substitute for the long photoperiod requirement for flowering, but did promote elongation in short photoperiods.
