Abstract:
Program assessment does not evaluate a specific student or faculty member, but attempts to show how the total instructional program of a department is meeting its objectives.
Uses for program assessment include showing how a program has improved the quality of its instruction over time using a variety of measurement criteria as well providing a baseline against which faculty can improve their courses vis a vis specific objectives.
This paper provides examples of objectives statements, scoring forms, representation of results, and preliminary interpretations based on 5 semesters of use at the University of Hawaii.
