FURTHER STUDIES ABOUT THE HOST RANGE OF SHARKA (PLUM POX) VIRUS |

| Abstract:
In spring 1976, 18 plum varieties, 3 apricot varieties, seedlings of Prunus armeniaca L., P. persica (L.) Batsch., P. cerasifera Ehrh., P. mume (Sieb.) Sieb. et Zucc., P. sibirica L. and P. mahaleb L. were investigated concerning their susceptibility resp. sensibility to sharks (plum pox) virus in the greenhouse. There were great differences in the severity of leaf symptoms between the varieties and species tested. The plum pox virus could be detected by serodiagnosis in all varieties and species except P. mahaleb L. 14 weeks after inoculation. Seedlings of P. cerasifera, P. armeniaca 'Millionär', P. mume and P. sibirica seem to be better indicators than the commonly used peach seedling in case the inoculum was taken from plum trees. | |
