SITUATION OF SHARKA DISEASE ON SOME EXPERIMENTAL PLUM ORCHARDS AFTER TWENTY YEARS OF THE INVESTIGATION

Author:   M.M. Jordovic
Abstract:
It was examined the situation of Sharka disease in some experimental plum orchards established in two different regions during 1956 – 1975. Two orchards were located in region of Sandzak, which is known as one with severe distribution of Sharka disease and another two in West Serbia, where Sharka is sporadically distributed.

At the end of the study 69–75% of the trees were found to be infected in orchards in region of Sandzak, and only O, O3–2, 6% ones in the orchards in West Serbia. These results indicate very favorable conditions for the spread of Sharka virus in some regions on old trees as well as on young ones.
