ISHS Acta Horticulturae 67: X International Symposium on Fruit Tree Virus Diseases

REACTION OF APPLE CULTIVARS TO INFECTION BY APPLE PROLIFERATION DISEASE

Author:   B. J. Zawadzka
Abstract:
Trees of twelve apple cultivars were inoculated with apple proliferation disease and their response to infection was studied during a four year period. The obtained results indicate that a great difference exists in the reaction of different cultivars to the disease. The differences are expressed by the severity and diversity of symptoms developed, influence on growth, and on the quantity and size of fruits. Jonathan appeared to be the most sensitive cultivar. Antonovka and Yellow Transparent the most tolerant ones, however, even on these the disease very strongly dimished the size of fruits.
