Abstract:
In the plenary session of the closing of the Seventh International Symposium on Temperate Zone Fruits in the Tropics and Subtropics, Mr.
Singhi Ram, Minister of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Government of Himachal Pradesh was the chief guest.
Dr.
S.S. Negi, Chairperson, National Organizing Committee, while welcoming the chief guest highlighted the important issues deliberated in different sessions of the symposium.
The chief guest advised for increased collaboration and cooperation between the different countries growing temperate zone fruits in the tropics and subtropics for expansion of temperate fruits in the warmer areas, exchange of latest knowledge for their cultivation and value addition based on the recommendations of the different sessions.
Mr.
Ram called upon the scientists to popularize organic farming for ecofriendly and healthy food and stressed upon the need to transfer technology to the grass root level.
Chairpersons and rapporteurs of different sessions were invited to present recommendations of their respective sessions.
After thorough discussion with the participants the following recommendations emerged:....
