Abstract:
The Indian Council of Agricultural Research has been playing a pivotal role in the research and development of temperate fruits through developing varieties suitable for growing under tropical and subtropical conditions and standardizing production and post harvest technologies for this purpose. All India Coordinated Research Project has played a major role in this regard in crops like grape, peach, plum and pear. The establishment of National Research Centre for Grape at Pune is a step forward in making grape a commercially viable industry in tropical and subtropical regions of India for meeting out the needs of domestic as well as export markets....
