Abstract:
Growth regulators were tried to check the fruit drop in Satluj Purple (Prunus salicina Lindl), a self-incompatible cultivar of plum.
GA3 at 20 and 50 ppm, NAA at 10 and 20 ppm, 2,4-D at 4 and 8 ppm and 2,4,5-T at 10 and 20 ppm were sprayed two weeks after pit hardening of the fruits.
Minimum fruit drop was recorded in 2,4,5-T at 20 ppm (29.9%) followed by 2,4,5-T at 10 ppm (33.5%) and NAA at 20 ppm (39.6%), in comparison to control (56.7%). All growth regulator treatments resulted in decrease in acid content and increase in TSS/acid ratio of the fruit.
Total soluble solids were maximum in GA 50 ppm sprays.
