Abstract:
Seven pecan cultivars namely Mahan, Nellis, Burkett, Western Schley, Success, Halbert and Calaro were studied for growth, yield and physico-chemical characteristics of fruits under subtropical climate of India.
The maximum scion girth was recorded in Nellis.
Western Schley registered maximum height whereas, maximum extension growth was obtained in Mahan and minimum in Calaro.
The highest yield was obtained in Western Schley and lowest in Mahan.
The weight and size of nut was maximum in Halbert and minimum in Calaro.
The kernel percentage was also maximum in Halbert followed by Mahan whereas minimum was recorded in Nellis.
The highest crude protein percentage was observed in Nellis and lowest in Burkett.
The cultivar Halbert contained the maximum fat percentage followed by Success.
