Abstract:
Research has been conducted at the Fruit Research Stations in Constanta, Bihor and at the Fruit Research Institute in Pitesti-Maracineni, Romania, over a period of twenty five years. A large number of peach rootstocks, within the framework of some rootstock and cultivar-rootstock experiments, were tested at these 3 sites. As a result of the research, new peach seedling and clonal rootstocks were selected. These rootstocks were checked within the Network of the State Institute for Cultivar Testing and Registration and have finally been released and registered in "The Official List of Cultivars (hybrids) Cultivated in Romania". This paper presents the main traits of the peach rootstocks created and used in Romania: T16, Tomis 1 and Tomis 79, obtained at the Fruit Research Station in Constanta; Oradea 1 and De Balc, obtained at the Fruit Research Station in Bihor; and P1s, Adaptabil and Miroper, obtained at the Fruit Research Institute in Pitesti-Maracineni. At present, these rootstocks are used in the nurseries in Romania.
