ISHS Acta Horticulturae 657: XIX International Symposium on Virus and Virus-like Diseases of Temperate Fruit Crops - Fruit Tree Diseases

SPATIALLY ARRANGED DIVERSITY OF PLUM POX VIRUS (PPV) ISOLATES IN A CLUSTER OF ORCHARDS IN SOUTHERN FRANCE

Authors:   V. Marie-Jeanne, G. Thébaud, J. Peyre, G. Labonne
Keywords:   PPV, isolate diversity, single strand conformation polymorphism
Abstract:
The diversity of PPV isolates was monitored during up to 10 years in a cluster of infected orchards. Differences between isolates were characterized by SSCP analysis and then by the coat protein gene sequence. Differences were detected both among PPV-M and PPV-D isolates. CP gene sequence allowed the clustering of PPV-D isolates into 3 types. The repartition of the isolates in the focus correlated with the type of sequences. A central parcel accommodates all types of PPV-D which were found.
