PREFACE

The papers contained in this volume of Acta Horticulturae report the Proceedings of the Tenth International Symposium on Small Fruit Virus Diseases. Keynote speakers and authors of selected contributed oral and poster presentations were given the opportunity to submit a manuscript for publication.
These manuscripts were reviewed by the symposium Editor. Only those papers judged suitable for publication following the authors consideration of reviewer suggestions appear in this volume of Acta Horticulturae. The ISHS acknowledges and appreciates the contribution of all editors and reviewers. They have made a significant contribution to improving the quality of this publication.

IN MEMORIAM

Dr. Renata Karesova passed away on the 29th of September, 2003 at the age of 56. She worked at the Research and Breeding Institute of Pomology Holovousy L.T.D. since 1971. Her career was devoted to the study of viral diseases for the past 28 years. She has published more than 90 scientific papers (28 abroad). She participated in many research projects for Ministry of Agriculture and EU. She represented the institute at many foreign congresses, workshops and conferences. She cooperated with many high tech institutes in the Czech Republic and abroad. Colleagues at the Research and Breeding Institute of Pomology Holovousy L.T.D. have lost a great friend, colleague and valuable expert with her passing. The Tree Fruit and Small Fruit Working Groups of the ISHS will miss her involvement in our symposia and as a collaborator in the future.
We would like to honor her memory.
