Abstract:
Certification is of overwhelming importance in the modern viticulture.
Its implementation is dependent of the availability of reliable methods for virus detection.
The increasing number of viral species that are found affecting grapevine is a serious limitation due to difficulties of obtaining suitable reagents for immunodiagnosis.
Genomic methods targeting several viruses at once might be an economical alternative to ELISA. In this paper we discuss the advantages and problems posed by genomic targeted methods.
