ISHS Acta Horticulturae 65: Symposium on High Density Planting

EFFECT OF INITIAL TREE QUALITY ON YIELD

Author:   H.J. van Oosten
Abstract:
It is shown that the thickness of the stem and the number of lateral branches (feathers) on one-year-old fruit trees are important factors for early production in the orchards. This was found with the varieties Cox's Orange Pippin, Golden Delicious and Schone van Boskoop.
