| Abstract:
The base of this work is the summary of a questionnaire within the breeding working group of COST Action 836, followed by a discussion on different expectations of fruit quality. The different breeding strategies are reviewed. A new aspect in strawberry breeding is the health aspect. It has been shown that the aims of quality differ depending on the regions, with different shipping and trading methods and different consumer uses. That means, fortunately, that the standardisation of the strawberry in Europe seems not to be a way for the future. | |
