VARIETY EVALUATION OF RUBUS, VACCINIUM AND RIBES IN TRENTINO (NORTHERN ITALY) |

| Abstract:
Fruit quality of berries was studied through systematic evaluation within a project supported by APA Sant’Orsola (APASO), a cooperative including about 1500 small growers in Trentino, Verona and Calabria. The assessments started in 2001 and the analyses were done in cooperation with ISF (Istituto Sperimentale per la Frutticoltura) and, since 2003, IASMA (Istituto Agrario di San Michele all’Adige). The project aimed to evaluate Rubus, Vaccinium, Ribes and Fragaria varieties and identify the most suitable accessions to be cultivated by the APASO growers. The potential role of this germplasm in the production of new cultivars with high adaptation to the local environments is being investigated. | |
