Abstract:
Antioxidant activity (AA), Anthocyanin Content (ACY) and other fruit characters including color, Soluble Solids (SS) and Titratable Acidity (TA) were determined for raspberry cultivars, selections and offsprings cultivated at Hortresearch, Nelson Region, New Zealand.
Two methods to assess the AA have been used: TEAC (Trolox Equivalent Antioxidant Analysis) and FRAP (Ferric reducing antioxidant power), strongly correlated with each other (r = 0.858). Correlation between AA and ACY was found (data not shown). Our results demonstrate that AA in raspberry is different among cultivars, selections and families and could be improved by a breeding program.
