Abstract:
Black currant is the main berry crop grown in Lithuania. Between 1993-2001, eight black currant (R. nigrum L.) cultivars were released from the Lithuanian Institute of Horticulture. They are the early fruiting cultivars ‘Joniniai’ and ‘Blizgiai’ and mid-season fruiting cultivars ‘Almiai’, ‘Pilenai’, ‘Vyciai’, ‘Gagatai’, ‘Kriviai’ and ‘Tauriai’. Phenological traits, yield, resistance to fungal diseases and pests, chemical analysis and fruit quality of these cultivars are presented in this paper, together with a short description.
