Abstract:
In the last 20 years, 305 black currant, red currant, white currant and gooseberry genotypes were evaluated at the Fruit Research Institute, Pitesti, Romania.
The main task of this study was to identify new sources for the autochthonous breeding programme for disease resistance, yield potential, self-fertility, late blooming and fruit quality.
In addition, another goal of the study was to determine the maximum variation in agro-biological traits and establish data sets.
This paper shows the best potential genitors for the above characteristics and their extreme values.
