ISHS Acta Horticulturae 649: Euro Berry Symposium - Cost 836 Final Workshop

MODIFICATION OF THE BEARING PERIOD OF RED RASPBERRY CV TULAMEEN WITH COLD STORED BARE ROOT AND POTTED LONG-CANES PLANTED AT DIFFERENT DATES

Abstract:
This work reports the results of research aimed at assessing the possibility of delaying the fruit-bearing period of the red raspberry (cv ‘Tulameen’) by comparing two different planting dates and two different types of nursery planting material. Cold stored raspberry long canes were planted, half in mid-April and half in mid- May, and then managed with traditional agronomic techniques. Results showed that by delaying planting by using cold stored long canes, it is possible to obtain good out-of-season crops.
