Abstract:
The aim of the work was to test susceptibility of K 40 somaclone of ‘Elsanta’ cultivar Verticillium dahliae, in a greenhouse and to study the effect of pathogen infection and water stress on photosynthetic activity of plants differing in reaction to vericillium wilt.
The somaclone K 40 was significantly more resistant to infection with Verticillium dahliae and drought stress than control genotypes.
The selected somaclone had also more efficient photosynthetic apparatus.
Both, infection with pathogen and water stress only slightly decreased effective yield of energy conversion (Y) in K 40 somaclone, whereas in infected ‘Elsanta’ plants photochemical activity decreased sharply.
