Abstract:
Ever increasing regulations on the use of chemical sprays for pest and disease control in greenhouse production will force the industry to adopt more environmentally friendly products.
IPM is the basis of sound pest control practices, however, disease control in greenhouse crops still relies on chemical solutions.
The use of more environmentally friendly fungicides like potassium bicarbonate can only serve to assist the further expansion of the greenhouse industry in Australia.
This study investigated the use of a commercial formulation of food grade potassium bicarbonates tank mixed with a vegetable oil adjuvant for the control of powdery mildew on greenhouse cucumber and tomato plants.
The tank mix provided effect control against both diseases.
