Abstract:
Although several other orchard systems showed over-crowding associated with the tree canopy enlargement in the 6th leaf, the Alternate Fan System did not fill its allotted space.
Moreover, the Alternate Fan System also resulted in the least shoot and water sprout emergence and the shortest terminal shoot growth.
The Alternate Fan System resulted in more flower cluster development and fruiting.
For converting the Y-Trellis System or Pergola System into the Alternate Fan System, the Modified Alternate Fan System was devised and it displayed more flower bud development and fruiting than Pergola System or Y-Trellis System with a similar canopy development of the other systems.
