Abstract:
Tree growth, yield and fruit quality were evaluated in several experiments using different tree spacings for orange (Citrus sinensis L. Osb.), grapefruit (Citrus paradisi Macf.), lime (Citrus latifolia Tan.) and lemon (Citrus limon (L.) Burm.) trees planted on red ferralitic soils of the citrus region in Jagüey Grande, Matanzas, Cuba.
Tree growth and production were lower at short distances in comparison with greater planting distances.
The yield was increased proportionally to the increase in the number of trees per unit of area planted during the first years, and later went similar or superior to those obtained at shorter distances.
