Abstract:
Entire plants have been regenerated from cell suspensions, meristem tips and pollen-embryos subjected to -196°C in the presence of a cryoprotectant.
The significance and potential of long-term freeze-storage for the maintenance of genetic stability, preservation of clones of rare genomes, and for the conservation of disease-free stocks is discussed.
