CALCULATOR FOR THE BRASSICAS FERTILIZATION RECOMMENDATION

Authors:   Z. Lončarić, V. Vukadinović, B. Bertić, T. Teklić
Keywords:   cabbage, Savoy cabbage, cauliflower, nutrient removal, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, crop residues
Abstract:
The calculator is based on the soil analyses data and nutrients removal by target yield of cabbage, Savoy cabbage and cauliflower. The formulas in this calculator are simplified for the “on line” use on the Internet, the program is written in JavaScript and it can be downloaded and used “off line”. Calculator includes menu for vegetable species choice (cabbage, Savoy cabbage and cauliflower) and for input the target yield. Furthermore, it is necessary to input the results of soil analyses (pH, humus content, mg AL-P2O5 and K2O, Nmin 0-30 cm) and the soil texture. After entering data it is enough to click on button "calculate" and all calculated data: nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium needed for target yield, recommended fertilization and nutrients in crop residues will be shown on the right side of calculator in report windows. Data used in formulas are results of four-year field experiments since 1998 and are related to soil and fertilization influence on yield, nutrient concentration and nutrient removal of cabbage, Savoy cabbage and cauliflower plants. The result of the calculation is the recommendation of N, P2O5 and K2O doses for the fertilization of selected vegetable crop. The calculator estimates the amount of certain mineral fertilizers at the same time. The described calculator is mostly based on field experiments results and partly tested with recommended fertilization. Nitrogen calculation is tested but without completed regression model and needs more testing and validation. Crop residues data are useful for nutrient balance and can be used for fertilization planning.
