Abstract:
Techniques were developed for faster clonal multiplication of promising cultivars of tulips and daffodils through micropropagation.
MS medium containing 1 mg·L-1 NAA, 5 mg·L-1 BA , 3% sucrose and 0.8% agar was found to be best for shoot multiplication of tulip ‘Recreado’ and ‘Christmas Marvel’ and daffodils ‘Carlton’ and ‘Dutch Master’. In vitro rooting was difficult for tulip.
MS medium containing 9% sucrose, 0.8% agar and 1 mg·L-1 NAA was found to be most effective for in vitro bulblet formation and rooting of daffodil.
