Abstract:
The inheritance of three major anthocyanidins, pelargonidin (Pg), cyanidin (Cy) and delphinidin (Dp), was studied in Eustoma flowers.
A clear phenetic segregation in the F2-population was observed with the presence of alleles for anthocyanidins synthase, which appeared basically with Mendelian ratios.
Based on these observations and Chi-square analysis, multiple alleles are proposed in the B-ring hydroxylation system, with at least four alleles responsible for the flavonoid 3'- and/or 3',5'-hydroxylase.
The genotypes are presented as HT, HF, HD and HO in Eustoma flowers, controlling 3'-; 5'-; 3',5'-; and 3'- and 3',5'-hydroxylation, respectively.
