Abstract:
The sweet cherry breeding program has been ongoing at the Pacific Agri-Food Research Centre in Summerland, British Columbia, since 1936. Past releases include ‘Stella’, ‘Sumpaca Celeste’, ‘Sumnue Cristalina’, ‘Sumste Samba’, ‘Sandra Rose’, Sumleta Sonata’, ‘Stardust’, ‘Lapins’, ‘Skeena’, ‘Sweetheart’, and ‘Staccato’. Releases span the cherry ripening season from 8 days before to about 27 after ‘Van’. All but ‘Cristalina’ and ‘Samba’ are self-fertile.
