Abstract:
Studies in progress are designed to establish procedures for efficient long-term (9–10 months) cabbage storage.
Results of laboratory and field tests indicate that the storage period can be extended approximately 2 months by optimizing conditions within the storage environment.
Further attempts to reduce losses of tissue during storage are based on the genetic modification of the cabbage itself.
Both sexual and asexual breeding techniques are employed to improve storage characteristics and other qualities of cabbage.
