Abstract:
This work concerns the first stage of a research whose goal is to realize an effective temperature and moisture reduction inside greenhouses by combining the removal of the plastic film cover from the roof to an inexpensive variable shading stretched above it.
Besides describing the systems developed for both the above cases, this work examines in detail the difficulties related to a correct roof opening.
The mechanism allows rolling of the plastic film on two tubes located on the external sides and extending along the entire length of the greenhouse Through the rotation of the tube, provided by an electrical motoreducer, the greenhouse opens into two halves along its whole length, from the ridge towards the lateral walls.
The roof closing is ensured by an internal tube driven by a steel cable and the same motoreducer.
A movable shading system is obtained by means of an automatic cloth roll which moves up and down over an external carrying structure.
Both automatic systems have been installed in a greenhouse structure and are now being tested.
